INSTALLATION

Install using the Helium App

FinestraMiner can be installed using most modern iOS and Android smartphones.

Download the official Helium App to set up your Helium account and wallet. Follow the steps within the app to install your FinestraMiner and connect it to the Helium Network.

You will need to wait 2 to 3 minutes for your FinestraMiner to boot up before starting the installation process. Please make sure that your smartphone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is turned on before connecting your device. In addition, you will need access to your preferred Wi-Fi network in order to complete the installation.

The FinestraMiner Diagnostics App

In rare cases, users may experience an error when they attempt to install their FinestraMiner through the official Helium app. Mimiq is aware of this issue and has developed a FinestraMiner Diagnostics App to handle these cases. You can download it on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Users who are encountering issues with the official Helium App may need to first launch the FinestraMiner Diagnostics App to begin the connection process. This app will handle the initial on-boarding of the FinestraMiner before redirecting the user to the official Helium App to connect the FinestraMiner to the Helium Network.

You will still need to download the official Helium App to finish your installation.

Connected to Wi-Fi but not to the Internet?

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the FinestraMiner. The LED indicator light on the top of the miner should be blinking blue. If it is not blinking blue, press (do not hold) the black button on the side of the miner until the blue light begins to blink.

Verify that the internet is working by connecting another device, such as a laptop or cellphone. If the internet is working, try to unplug the FinestraMiner for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

Connected to the Internet but still not working?

Syncing can vary with internet speed, but it can take up to 96 hours for a FinestraMiner to fully sync with the internet.

Even after installing the FinestraMiner, there are certain cases where it may not be able to sync to the Helium Network. This can be caused by a variety of reasons, including a router misconfiguration or if it is behind a firewall. In addition, certain Internet Service Providers (ISP) may prevent the FinestraMiner from connecting to the Helium Network.

Due to the diversity of ISPs and router models being used, we recommend searching online for documentation on modem settings and ISPs.

FinestraMiners being relayed are not directly connected to the internet, but through another Hotspot in the network. This can affect mining performance. You can check if the FinestraMiner is being relayed on the Helium Explorer.

In these cases, port-forwarding may be required to allow the FinestraMiner to fully connect to the internet. We recommend enabling TCP Ports 44158 in both directions in your router. Check your router’s manufacturing instructions on how to open ports 44158. If port-forwarding does not resolve this issue, contact your ISP for further instructions.
